Body Work Descriptions

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, skin-stretching massage technique developed by Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife, Estrid, in the 1930s. It focuses on stimulating the lymphatic system to facilitate the movement of lymph fluid, which can become stagnant due to various health conditions, surgeries, or injuries.

Swedish Massage Therapy

All about relaxation, gentle muscle relief, and improving circulation.  Using oils or lotion to reduce friction and glide smoothly over your skin, you can expect improved circulation, relief from minor aches and pains, and enhancing flexibility and range of motion.

Deep Tissue Massage

This method is ideal for chronic tension, injury recovery, and those who crave more than just relaxation.  You may experience intense pressure and occasional discomfort during the session.  Afterward,  chronic muscle pain and stiffness can be alleviated, improved range of motion and flexibility. Breaks down scar tissue from injuries, and reduces inflammation and promotes healing. May help with conditions like sciatica, fibromyalgia, and plantar fasciitis.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a massage technique that involves applying sustained pressure to specific muscle knots, known as trigger points, to alleviate pain and release muscle tension. This therapy works by temporarily cutting off circulation to the tissue, which leads to a build-up of nitric oxide, signaling microcapillaries to open and increasing blood flow to the affected area, promoting healing. It is effective for relieving both acute and chronic pain, improving musculoskeletal health, and enhancing overall well-being.

Nurturing Prenatal Massage and Postpartum Body Care

Taking care of the female body during each trimester's special needs is so important. Post-partum is often considered the 4th trimester. Gentle massage helps regulate hormones, promoting the release of "feel-good" hormones like serotonin and dopamine while reducing the levels of stress hormones like cortisol, giving much needed relaxation to promote healthy pregnancy, delivery, and beyond.

As a Prenatal Doula, my goal is to empower families to have a satisfying birth experience, as they define it.

Orthopedic/ Trauma Recovery Therapy

This specialized form of massage that focuses on treating injuries, pain, and mobility issues associated with the musculoskeletal system. The goals of orthopedic massage sessions include decreasing pain, increasing range of motion, and preparing the body to return to normal daily routines and active hobbies.

Sports Therapeutic Massage

Sports Therapeutic Massage is a specialized form of massage designed to help athletes and active individuals recover from and prevent injuries, improve performance, and enhance flexibility and range of motion. It utilizes various techniques like deep tissue massage, range of motion, and compression.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a non-invasive, gentle technique that focuses on the Craniosacral system, which includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Practitioners use light touch to release tension and restrictions in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and organs throughout the body.

Digestive Attunement

Massage therapy can be a helpful tool in alleviating digestive pain by promoting relaxation, improving circulation, and stimulating the digestive system. Gentle abdominal massage, in particular, can help relieve bloating, gas, and constipation by encouraging the movement of trapped gas and waste through the digestive tract. Supplements that aid in removing toxins are recommended.

Enhancements

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine where a therapist puts special cups on the skin for a few minutes to create suction. The idea is to draw blood to or away from parts of your body. People get it for many reasons, such as pain and inflammation relief, relaxation and well-being.

Hot Stones Treatment

Using smooth, heated stones, typically made of basalt, placed onto specific areas of the body to provide heat therapy, which helps to relax muscles and alleviate tension. The warmth from the stones penetrates deeply into the muscles, enhancing the overall massage experience.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands or ears to promote relaxation and potentially alleviate various health issues. Ancient cultures studied the energetic connections through meridian lines between these points with other parts of the body, such as the internal organs or large muscle groups.

Aromatherapy

Utilizing specific botanical and special blends of essential oils can enhance the therapeutic benefits of your massage. Studied and used for centuries, the effects are especially impactful to the emotional center of the brain, the amygdala.

Hot Towels

Applied on the hands, feet or face, this therapeutic practice promotes relaxation, improved circulation and relieving muscle tension.

Energetic & Nervous System Support

Shamanic Healing

This ancient practice is found in many indigenous cultures. Core principles are a spirit world connection, to gain insight, retrieve lost souls, and restore balance. A holistic approach views illness as a spiritual imbalance that can manifest physically and emotionally. The energy body, or biofield, is worked with to clear negative energy and restore energetic balance.

Reiki and Energy Work

This practice, originating out of Japan, involves channeling focus/ universal life energy to a person to promote relaxation, reduce stress and facilitate the body’s natural healing processes. Practitioners channel this energy primarily through the hands to clear energy blockages and restore balance to the body. Remote sessions available.

Trauma Sensory Therapy

Trauma Sensory Therapy helps release stored energy, facilitates mental clarity, reduces stress and enhances emotional well-being. Relax into a state where the mind and body can unwind and rejuvenate

Sound Frequency Therapy

Based on the idea that everything, including our bodies, vibrates at certain frequencies, exposing the body intentionally to specific frequencies can resonate and potentially promote healing and restoring balance. This is a blend of intention-setting and cellular renewal, impacting various physiological and psychological processes. Brainwave states can shift from high-stress beta waves to relaxed alpha and theta states, promoting calmness and reducing tension. Types of sound therapy offered here include sound baths (crystal or Tibetan bowls), tuning forks, sound wave therapy, binaural beats, and toning.

Breathwork Training

Various techniques are used to improve physical and mental well-being through conscious breathing practices.

Chakra Clearing and Regeneration

Understanding the body's energetic centers is vital for a balanced flow of energy for healing and energetic potential to be reached. Our offerings include meditation to aid in clearing space in the mind to facilitate the connection to your body. This science of energy centers has been studied for millennia by people around the world, and generally accepted as chakras. When properly balanced, it allows for kundalini energy to flow up and down one's entire energy body.

Somatics Training

This field of study and practice emphasizes the body’s internal experience and perception. It focuses on how the body holds and expresses emotions and experiences, and how this mind-body connection can be used to improve physical and mental well-being.

Aesthetic Treatments

Holistic Facials

Did you know there are 22 muscles in the face area? This skincare treatment goes beyond traditional facial techniques to incorporate skincare practices, massage techniques, and relaxation methods to address not only the skin’s health but also the client’s physical, mental and emotional state.

Body Scrubs

Did you know the skin is the body’s largest organ? While the primary focus of a scrub is exfoliation, which removes dead skin that can cause dullness, clog pores and lead to various skin issues, it also contributes to the regeneration of new skin, improving skin texture and tone over time. Circulation improvement aids in bringing oxygen and nutrients to the skin, enhancing one’s natural glow.

Body Brush

Also known as dry brushing, this treatment offers several potential benefits for skin health and overall well-being. These include improved circulation, exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, and a potential reduction in the appearance of cellulite.

Hot Towels

Applied on the hands, feet or face, this therapeutic practice promotes relaxation, improved circulation and relieving muscle tension.

Paraffin Wax

Indulge in a warm melted paraffin wax on your hands or feet, which then hardens to create a warm, moisturizing barrier. This treatment is often used for therapeutic purposes, like relieving pain and stiffness in the hands and fingers, particularly for those with arthritis, and for softening and moisturizing the skin
